I tried to do animation with Photoshop today… Well, that’s not easy. I’ll try again one of these days!

Dr Light working on X(The Day of Sigma: Maverick Hunter X animation)
So much bothers me about this…
Look how tired Light looks. He knows he’s going to die and something has obviously happened behind the scenes to make him this worn out. He’s aged so much, and even his smile isn’t the same. What happened to his friends and family? He was never seen with Anyone except his children… Where are they? What happened to Rock, Roll, and Blues? Blues probably went first, and Light would have never known. Maybe his core went out with a bang that caused the next Chernobyl of that era. Imagine seeing that on the news. Maybe it was like gigamix and all that was left was his helmet. And Rock… Rock want out fighting and maybe Roll tried to protect her brother. Maybe they just got tired of fighting. They are only 12 years old mentally. I don’t know what happened, but I know Light is so tired and so lonely and so hopeless that he’s keeping a half-finished machine online just so he has someone to talk to.
He’s a lonely elderly man who habitually makes robots to keep him company.
And this one isnt even finished yet.
He just… He’s so tired.
The future and eventually death of Rock is explained in the Gameboy’s Megaman/Rockman IV and Wonderswan’s Rockman and Forte 2. Rock killed himself, from a certain point of view. Dr. Wily stole an experimental time machine called the time skimmer. He used it to kidnapped Rock from the future at some time after Rock’s last real mission. Dr. Wily brought him back in time and rebuilt him into Quint, who Rock and Forte killed.
That meant, when the end would come, the next robot uprising to happen; all that would be left would be Blues, Roll and Auto. X wasn’t just a new best hope, X was the last labour of love of a man who had his heart broken by seeing one son die at his own hands, and then his other children be slaughtered by the weapons of his former best friend.
The Wonderswan game villain isn’t Quint, it’s a duplicate called Rockman Shadow, a prototype Quint that was abandoned in favor of the real Quint (aka future Rockman/Mega Man corrupted). He was killed (though he then appears okay in a group shot in the game ending… eerrrr yeah). Yes, it’s confusing, but there you go.
And Quint wasn’t in IV, you’re thinking of V. And THEN there’s the little matter of destroyed bots returning again and again. They tend to do that a lot. But if we’re talking drama-deaths, Ballade and King were both “killed” in some “dramatic” storyline stuff, but came both back from it, King even having had a change of heart after. The Robot Master Field Guide also notes that the “Quint” from V might be a copy… after all, the real Quint ran off in his first appearance with no real storyline conclusion, while the other three GB bosses were destroyed…. and came “back”.
So… no, his fate is pretty open, and frankly, the less ties the better, because we don’t need the grimdark of X infecting the fun of classic.
Oh hey, I get a mention! …of sorts.
Probably worth noting the whole Time Skimmer thing took place in Mega Man Ii on the Game Boy, too. —LBD
Yes I’m excited
Yes I supported it
Yes I wish I was a part of it
Yes I consider it a part of the Mega Man Universe despite its disconnect.
Yes… just… yes….
As long as we have level headed thinking people, we can have both worlds and be happy. I’m excited for Mighty No. 9 because we have Mega Man in Super Smash Bros.
I have hopes we will see more of Mega Man from Capcom made with (hopefully) people who have respect for him. And as well, I look forward to seeing a brand new world on the same respect that Battle Network, Legends, X is.
Go support the Kickstarter, let’s see this thing happen.
